Welcome to Shaw Music (“Shaw Music,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of shawmusic.org (the “Site”) and any purchase or download of digital or physical products. By using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Site.
1. Intellectual Property and License Grant
All content on this Site, including sheet music, arrangements, compositions, text, graphics, and branding, is protected under United States copyright law and applicable international treaties.
Purchases from Shaw Music do not transfer ownership of any intellectual property. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
1.1 Digital Products
When you purchase digital sheet music or downloadable content, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:
- Download and print the number of copies corresponding to the quantity purchased
- Use the music for personal, educational, liturgical, rehearsal, or performance purposes
- Store files for personal archival use
You may not:
- Reproduce, distribute, share, upload, or transmit files beyond the licensed quantity
- Post or store files in publicly or privately accessible online environments (including cloud drives or file-sharing services)
- Modify, remove, or obscure copyright or publisher notices
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise redistribute the content in any form
Additional permissions may be required for public performance, livestreaming, recording, broadcasting, synchronization, or reproduction beyond the licensed scope.
1.2 Printed Editions (Physical Products)
Printed editions purchased from Shaw Music are physical goods for personal use only. No digital file or reproduction license is included unless explicitly stated on the product page.
You may not:
- Reproduce, scan, digitize, or distribute printed materials in any form
- Convert printed materials into digital or shareable formats
- Remove or alter copyright or publisher markings
All underlying copyright restrictions remain in force regardless of format.
2. Copyright Compliance
All works are protected by copyright law. Your purchase grants only the limited license described herein.
Users are solely responsible for ensuring that any use beyond private study or performance complies with applicable licensing requirements. This may include permissions for public performance, livestreaming, recording, broadcasting, duplication, projection, or text reproduction.
Licensing bodies such as CCLI, One License, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, or direct copyright holders may govern certain uses.
Unauthorized use beyond the scope of this license may constitute copyright infringement.
3. Orders and Payment
All prices are listed in U.S. dollars unless otherwise stated. Payment is required prior to delivery of digital products.
We reserve the right to refuse, cancel, or limit orders at our discretion, including suspected fraud, abuse, or licensing violations.
3.1 Shipping Policy (Physical Products)
Physical products are shipped exclusively to addresses within the continental United States. We do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or international destinations. Orders placed with non-eligible shipping addresses may be cancelled and refunded at our discretion.
4. Refund Policy
Due to the nature of digital delivery, all downloadable product sales are final.
Refunds may be granted at our sole discretion in cases of duplicate purchase, verified technical failure, or clear product error.
5. Accounts
Customers may create an account to access downloads and order history. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
You agree to provide accurate information and to use your account only for lawful purposes. We may suspend or terminate accounts in cases of misuse, fraud, or violation of these Terms.
6. Site Availability and Access
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site or its offerings at any time without notice.
We do not guarantee continuous availability of downloads. Users are responsible for maintaining secure backups of purchased files.
7. Product Representation
Product images and previews are illustrative and may not exactly match final formatted sheet music.
Digital scores are formatted for usability and may include layout optimizations such as page turns or duplex printing arrangements.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shaw Music shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the Site or products.
Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the product giving rise to the claim.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Updates are effective upon posting. Continued use of the Site constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
