Cello Music for Worship (Peter Hilliard) added to the Shaw Music catalog

While under quarantine in 2020, Peter Hilliard wrote ten hymn settings for cello and piano to be performed during filmed segments for virtual church services. In each expertly crafted arrangement, these beloved hymns are treated with reverence and invention, ranging from triumphant virtuosity to quiet contemplation. With titles spanning the church year, this collection provides preludes, postludes, and offertories for all seasons.

Beneath the Cross: Suite for Piano (Olivia Cresswell) added to the Shaw Music catalog

Olivia Cresswell has written a beautifully expressive suite on hymns of the cross, useful for many occasions throughout the church year. Church pianists and private teachers will find this a meaningful addition to their repertoire. Movements include:

Hymn Prelude Library vol 11 published by Concordia

Concordia Publishing House has released volume 11 of the 12-volume series Hymn Prelude Library (based on Lutheran Service Book), containing hymn tunes that begin with ‘T’, ‘U’, and ‘V’. This volume includes my setting of the tune “Union City” (“If Christ Had Not Been Raised from Death“), by Phillip Magness (Cantor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Broken Arrow, OK and composer with Liturgy Solutions). Other contributors to this volume (edited by Kevin Hildebrand) include Charles Callahan, Benjamin M. Culli, and Kristina Langlois. You may pre-order the book now, and it should become available on June 30, 2017.

Choosing repertoire for church choirs is one of the most difficult, time-consuming tasks of all choir directors, whether they direct larger or smaller choirs. This volume includes my setting of  “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” (PRECIOUS LORD), written by Thomas A. Dorsey (“The Father of Black Gospel Music”) during a period of great suffering and loss. Other contributors to this volume (edited by Kevin Hildebrand) include James Biery, Charles Callahan, and Wayne Wold.
