Piano Prelude Series vol 1 published by Concordia

Following the successful Hymn Prelude Library series for organ, Concordia has released a new collection of piano preludes based on the hymn tunes found in Lutheran Service Book. This collection features newly composed pieces by dozens of composers who write in a variety of styles and harmonizations. The pieces are useful as preludes, postludes, music at the offering, for introductions, and during distribution, as well as for those who play hymns at home. The durable wire binding ensures that each page lies flat against the music stand. Piano Prelude Series  vol 1 (preludes for tunes starting with the letter ‘A’) includes my setting of {Ach Gott vom Himmelreiche} (“The Bridegroom Soon Will Call Us“).

Lord, Keep Us Steadfast in Your Word published by Concordia

Concordia Publishing House has published my latest SSA anthem, “Lord, Keep Us Steadfast in Your Word,” in the collection Reformation Hymns for Treble Voices. This collection is described as “An accessible and versatile collection of hymns for treble voices based on hymns with Reformation themes. Even churches that do not typically have a women’s or children’s choir could find this collection useful for special festival services, such as those to celebrate the anniversary of the Reformation.”

Lord, I Need You (arr. Timothy Shaw) published in Fred Bock’s Worship Bridges series

lord-i-need-youMy newest addition to Fred Bock’s Worship Bridges series is a Nocturne on Lord, I Need You, a popular worship song by Christy Nockels, Daniel Carson, Jesse Reeves, Kristian Stanfill, and Matt Maher. The piece is described as “a dignified prelude, a closing postlude, a moving offertory piece or a tender concert selection.” I am pleased to be contributing to this series, which “endeavors to unify…church families by creating a series of resources for church musicians that merge the greatest songs and melodies of today with the traditional forms and styles that have endured for centuries. The goal is nothing less than to enable music to once again be a source of unity for the Church, not a tool for divisiveness or separation.”
