52 in 52The fourth newly composed hymn tune setting in my 52 in 52 series is SICILIAN MARINERS, “Lord, Dismiss Us with Your Blessing.” I hope you enjoy this postlude on a late 18th-century tune that, according to tradition, Sicilian sailors would sing at the close of each day. The tune is also used for the Roman Catholic Latin hymn “O Sanctissima,” the English Christmas carol “O Thou Happy, O Thou Holy,” and Beethoven’s arrangement of it appears in his Verschiedene Volkslieder (WoO 157).
